Starting with Golf is easy with Golf4Holland!

Introduction

The Netherlands Golf Federation (NGF) is the governing body in golf in the Netherlands, and as such the only official approved provider of EGA and NGF Handicaps.
The NGF provides these handicaps through her Members, which are the Golf Clubs in the Netherlands. Golf4Holland is one of these Members.
The NGF has established a minimum required playing level many years ago.
This used to be called "Golf Vaardigheids Bewijs" or GVB. It is now known as NGF Handicap 54.

How to start

1. You become a Member of Golf4Holland; you will then receive an official NGF Club Membership Card from Golf4Holland.

2. You take lessons from any partner on our partner page (If you already are taking lessons from a Professional, skip this step and go to step no.3).

3. You obtain your Course Permit - this happens when the professional is convinced you are able to play the course on your own. This Course Permit is NOT valid on all Golf Courses - in most cases only on the course that provided you with the Course Permit. You will receive an official NGF Pass confirming you have obtained Course Permission on the course that provided you with this permit.

At any time after step 1 you can take your Rules Test with Golf4Holland. You can start practicing the questions online here right now! Or you can register for your Rules Test right here now!

One result of NGF Handicap 54 or better

Now you play 9 or 18 holes - in one of our tournaments, or with a friend. This friend must be at least a GVB or NGF Handicap 54 player. If you play handicap 54 - you then have your official NGF Handicap 54! You will also receive a New Membership Card from Golf4Holland with your NGF Handicap status on it.

Is NGF Handicap 54 accepted on all Golf Courses?

Many courses around the world - and in the Netherlands - are not satisfied with an NGF Handicap of 54. They require an EGA Handicap of 36 or better from guests to play on their courses.

Obtaining your first EGA Handicap

Obtaining an EGA Handicap is fairly simple. You play and register 3 scores. One of those scores must have a result of 36 or more stableford points, calculated from an Exact Handicap of 36. Again you will receive a New Membership Pass, this time with your EGA Handicap status on it.

Passes

Some starting golfers will obtain NGF Handicap 54 within days of starting with lessons - these golfers will not receive every pass separately - but only the NGF Handicap 54 Pass.
