Castle domain “Cleyn Hoff”. The history of the castle domain goes back a long way and has had many illustrious owners and residents. The most famous is without a doubt Jan van Locquenghien, who was mayor of the city of Brussels several times during the 16th century and whose statue adorns the Kleine Zavel in the centre of Brussels. Thomas Bruce, Earl of Ailesbury, also lived in the castle and had a coat of arms stone with the motto “Love and Faith” placed, which you can still admire today on the stepped gable of the left wing. The dovecotes at the entrance are also original, but the rest of the castle was largely destroyed at the end of WWI.
