In recent years the course has undergone a period of extensive redevelopment in order to create a challenging but fair test of golf for players of all abilities. While not extensively long, the course plays far from easy. Course management and position off the tee is often more important than distance, with links style wispy rough waiting for that wayward shot. Water comes into play on a number of holes and the tricky prevailing wind makes club selection vital. This is particularly true on the 15th Par 3 as anything short will come to a watery grave.
