Experts consider the Gardagolf Country Club one of the best golf courses built over the past thirty years. Spread out over 110 hetares, the golf course was designed by British architects Cotton, Pennick, Steel & Partners. The Gardagolf County Club offers 27 holes nestled between the Rocca di Manerba, Soiano Castle and the Valtenesi hills, offering an extraordinarily beautiful panorama. Cypresses, olive trees, centuries-old oaks, pines and holm oaks complete the setting.
The temptation to stop and admire the scenery can be overwhelming, but make sure you don’t get too distracted, as the Gardagolf Country Club course is extremely challenging
The red course spreads gently across the hills dominated by Soiano Castle to the west, and by the town of Polpenazze to the east. It offers evocative and characteristic views and an interesting game for both the expert player and the novice; it is worth highlighting the great impact of the second hole, a par 3, which starts from an elevated position, with the green defended by a lake and bordered by large beds of flowers; it was in fact nominated “one of the 500 World's Greatest Golf Holes” by Golf Magazine. From the tee of hole 8, the horizon as far as the eye can see offers a view of Lake Garda and the majestic backdrop of Mount Baldo; this downhill par 4 hole is characterized by a long water hazard on the right and a central valley to challenge you, while on the left, you can admire the former villa of the patrician Omodeo family, now a residential complex.
The white course takes full advantage of the plain that extends from Soiano towards Manerba, and has some extremely interesting holes: the 7th, for example, an accentuated left dog-leg with a large lake that devours the balls from the tee shot of those who venture to make a hole-in-one; the uphill 9th hole on the green underneath the Clubhouse, nestled in a natural amphitheatre covered with old yet beautiful olive trees; undermining the drive of the less experienced, there is a pond characterized by a century-old chapel.
Surrounded by the park of Villa Omodeo, the yellow course is extremely technical, with small greens defended by deep bunkers and water hazards.
The player must decide their game strategy carefully; particularly on holes like the 2nd -par 4, 330 metres – which has a treacherous front water hazard 200 metres from the tee. The 4th hole - par 4, 367 metres - forces the player to perfectly place the tee shot on the fairway sloping to the left, with a lateral water hazard to the right of the landing area. The second shot must be made towards a small, raised green that is very well defended by large bunkers.
